What Kind of Bones?

pic10Erina Heights Vet Hospital recommends feeding RAW bone such as fresh lamb or beef necks that are cut lengthways; not only are they great for your pets dental health; they are also more digestible than their dried counterparts and have a higher moisture content.

Under no circumstances should any leg bone of beef, sheep or pork be fed to dogs – these bones are more compact & are harder to digest & will potentially crack the crowns of teeth.

The take home message is to seek out the long cut sheep necks & feed perhaps every other day in combination with a good quality dry kibble. The addition of a small amount of omega 3 oil (plant +/- fish based) is a bonus. the easy dose product “Megaderm” is ideal.
